The Mumbai police on Wednesday recovered Bandra MLA Shrikant Sarmalkar’s bodyguard, Rakesh Wagh’s body from Wagh’s house in suburban Bandra.
The 34-year-old Wagh has allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself from the ceiling fan in his residence in Santh Dyaneshwar Nagar in Bandra, said police sources.
“In his suicide note, Wagh stated that during his funeral, his Muslim girlfriend should be present,” the source added.

According to the police, Wagh had committed suicide early this week. The discovery was only after Wagh’s neighbour complained of foul smell from Wagh’s house on Wednesday.
The Kherwadi police have registered a case of accidental death and are probing the case to ascertain the involvement of the girl’s family behind the suicide. The police sources said that Wagh was in relationship with a Muslim girl from his area but was troubled since the time the girl’s parents opposed to the inter-caste marriage.
“Wagh was very loyal, polite and dedicated. It is shocking for me to accept that he has taken such a drastic step,” said Sarmalkar.
